Conventions I visited so far

Nicon Hannover 2026

So, I said I'd take all my pics with my 3DS now but that did NOT work out with this one... It was SO crowded I couldn't even take proper pics with my PHONE. LMAO- I visited this convention with my new bestie from work and it was actually a pretty decent experience, considering it was my first slightly big anime convention! So many cosplayers visited, it was kinda funny to see imo. A LOT of Genshin cosplayers, like Columbina and Arlecchino n' stuff. I think I even saw a Cyno cosplayer, which was crazy (hes my goat). Unfortunately, it was so crowded that it was pretty difficult to look at the different stands and merch stuff in peace. It was rather stressful since I had to push myself forward every time I wanted to just barely see something lmao... Though I assume that's rather normal for conventions.

The loot I got from this con was pretty epic. Not legendary but epic. Since I saved some money for this convention, I actually ended up spending quite a bit. Like 150€ I think- OK BUT HEAR ME OUT. I found my FIRST Homura figure. I'VE NEVER SEEN HER ANYWHERE ELSE I SWEAR so I had to buy it. It was... 100€ but it was worth I promise- Aside from that I found a big Miku plush that happened to basically be a cute plush version of the figure I bought at the last convention in Wolfenbüttel LMAO- So I HAD to. Well and I also bought some keychains, a rather big Genshin one (Dendro vision), that I put in my shelf for my tiny Kinich shrine, and a Len keychain actually for my key. LOL-

Aside from the loot, they had some events there as well, like a cosplay contest. Though my friend and I didn't visit that because it was a bit late and we had a 1hr trip back home lmao. I also don't think many people want to stay in Hanover until 4PM+ ngl- But I also saw a GAMING ROOM thing with a bunch of fighting games, simulators and I think even Touhou games, as well as rhythm games. My friend and I ended up playing rhythm games for quite a bit lmfao. P sure all of them were clones but doesnt matter, it was fun. I think it was a Guitar Hero clone- I've rarely been that overwhelmed in my life but yeah lol.

I remember they also offered workshops/courses (whatever you wanna call it) at certain times. So my friend and I wanted to visit the Bow/Ribbon-Making workshop. According to their website it was supposed to be around 2:15PM on Saturday.... And yeah when we got there we found out that the website's info was outdated and the course was on FRIDAY at 2:45PM. Yeah that was just ... unfortunate I guess. We waited quite a while for it and THEN we realized it wasn't even on saturday. I think that was the only thing I really disliked from this convention. Of course it wasn't on purpose and stuff like this can happen, but it was annoying, since we were extended our stay just for this workshop.

Oh right, another thing regarding this. I remember the website said something about a Lolita meetup. I also did not see any other Lolitas aside from me... Like 1 other Lolita but it was an actual kid so yeah... I think that was also either on Friday or Sunday. Very annoying tbh. I was also pretty sure it said Saturday... I mean I would've dressed like that either way, I was just excited to see others and maybe find out where they get their stuff from.

Overall, I think I had fun, it was just crowded and busy and kinda loud, especially the gaming room. I was really exhausted when I got back home and I wasn't even there for too long. Considering the place isn't even that big, it was a lil too crowded imo but it's ok I guess, I'm probably just not used to it. The loot was pretty epic as I already said and everyone I interacted with was pretty friendly too. My friend and I also got a few compliments regarding our outfits LOL (we weren't even cosplaying)- My friend is a goth enjoyer so she and I were the complete opposite of eachother. I was like white/red and she was full black LMAO, it was rather funny.

Oh right and speaking of cosplay again, I saw a really really cool Cirno cosplayer, I think I saw an Instagram post of this convention and she was there too. She looked so so pretty LOL I think she won a prize at the convention, totally deserved it was so good.

I guess that's it though, it was pretty decent! Mostly bought stuff there and looked at cosplayers tho, unfortunately. Though I'm sure if we had attended the workshop, it would've been better :3

RetroGamesCon Wolfenbüttel 2026

The "RetroGamesCon" in Wolfenbüttel is the second convention I ever visited :3c It was actually a spontaneous decision. I remember I wrote it down in my phones calendar and it reminded me on the same day because I forgot to put a reminder. So my brother and I just INSTANTLY started getting ready and went there LOL. Btw, my brother had the brilliant idea to take an ancient camera and take pictures of the convention with it, for the "retro feeling" (I also just love it, I want to do that with all conventions I visit ngl). Since we didn't have an old camera, I decided to just take my 3DS. So the pictures posted in here will be CRUSTY.

So... when we arrived we kinda realized we should've gotten there sooner because omg it was so crowded. Which is funny, actually because it was on the same day as the Gamescom in Köln. I did NOT expect this many people at this tiny convention. Also, for some reason the "Ghostbusters Niedersachsen" were outside right in front of the convention, I assume they were invited. They were just hyping people up and handing out stickers and being silly, it was honestly really funny. They had some really cool machine thing on their back that played music and their car looked so cool too, it was heavily decorated, LOL.

So when we finally got in there, after a long while, I was actually really surprised. Since this was my second convention after a long time, I didn't expect it to be more of a Flea Market? But honestly, I'm glad it was like that. They had so many old games, handmade figures and someone even brought and sold cosplay props. I enjoy stuff like this a lot more compared to crowded modern gaming focused conventions (like the Dreamhack OR Gamescom). You could tell that everyone who attended this convention ACTUALLY loves games and had genuine interest in what was presented there and isn't just there because "omg it's a famous convention" or "omg my favorite influencer is here"... (None of this was the case there, luckily.)

I don't quite know how to put it, but it just kinda felt like we were all part of a little community when I was there. Everyone had this one thing in common and it was really easy to talk to some people too. My brother and I walked past some guy selling a lot of pokemon stuff and ngl I saw so many special edition game packages and whatnot, stuff I didn't even know existed and the guy selling them started explaining things to me about it LOL- Also the amount of special edition consoles and handhelds I saw made me so jealous. I REALLY need a Pokemon Y themed 3DS... Urghhh-

Near the entrance, they also had a few consoles with ancient, tiny TVs for people to play with. I remember seeing a PS2 and a Gamecube. Idk if I ever mentioned this but I LOVE the PS2 so much. I need it. Really badly. I just didn't have the money to buy one that day ARGHH- My brother played a bit of Crash Bandicoot (I don't know which game from the series it was-)on the PS2 there, lol. Around a corner they also had a tiny "museum-area" with VERY old consoles for people to look at, and I think some others had special controllers that you could play with!

Speaking of Crash Bandicoot, later that day I found somebody selling a Crash Bandicoot plushie. My dad really likes Crash, I remember he told me he used to play the games all the time when he was a kid! So I just bought it and gifted it to him. He was so happy about it and put the plushie in his office now :3c.
The only other thing that I bought from this convention was another Miku figure for my room. There was ONE guy selling Miku stuff, I didn't expect anyone to do that honestly...? But yeah I guess Miku IS everywhere. That figure looked so good I just couldn't leave it there. I just wish I had more money with me that day, I probably would've bought some more stuff.

Unfortunately, as a gen z kid (sadly), I don't even have many old consoles or handhelds. I think the oldest one we have is a Gameboy Advance, from my brother though. So even if I bought some ancient game, I wouldn't really be able to do anything with it besides putting it in a shelf. Which wasn't THAT worth it to me, nor do I have a shelf to put them in LMAO- BUT NONETHELESS it was a GREAT experience, I was dying the entire day because my autism was kicking in really hard. Seeing all the mid 30s people with their kids enjoying the convention was also quite something. I wish I had that same nostalgic feeling as them-
